Motivational Moment

“There is only one way to grow a business profitably. You make sure your customers are treated so well that they come back for more and bring their friends.”

Actionable Insights

A Leadership Scorecard is a coaching tool focused on the input drivers that deliver winning outcomes. Here’s a few tips in building your Leadership Scorecard.

1 Relatability: Set an Outcome KPI in terms the team can relate and gain buy-in. Is it easier to understand $60,000 in Revenue or 300 Loyal Members at $200? Is it easier to get your head around $50,000 Net Profit or 100 Units Sold at $500 Net Profit?

2 Serenity: The customer controls the sale as they must say “yes”. What you control are the input drivers of your business to influence them. Ask how—which input drivers will support our growth.

3 Input Drivers:  Color commentary for each.

  • Customer Experience:  As Andy Taylor noted above, how well are you keeping your loyal customers?

  • Marketing:  The goal is not website traffic, leads, or any customer.  It’s earning New Loyal Customers.

  • Team:  Sets expectations for team productivity plus provides objective measure when to add team members.

  • Operations:  Yield matters as gross margin is dynamic based on the situation.  Market share is eye-opening for store leadership evaluations.

4 Benchmarking:  Key is comparison.  Leaders want to know whether each input driver stands.  How’s it compare to the top stores?  Is it getting better or worse?

5 One-Page:  Learn to manage your business from a single page.  Sure, more reports are available.  Yet you only drill down into those when you need them.

I won’t have a problem if you aim high and miss but I am gonna have a real issue if you aim low and hit.
If you think you can or if you think you can’t, you’re right.
Always remember to be kind.  Always… never embarrass momma.

You want to make an impact? Find your broom.
You gonna do a job, do it right.
You keep standing. No matter what, you don’t give up.
